About Travel Surf
I’m Fanny
Freelance web consultant based in Capbreton, a stone’s throw from the ocean. For more than 10 years I have been working with craftspeople, small businesses and surf schools in the Landes and the Basque Country. And I have been surfing for about as long.

Why this site exists
Planning a surf trip as a beginner or intermediate surfer is exhausting. Forums are full of advice for surfers chasing perfect barrels in the middle of the swell season. Travel guides talk about beaches, not waves. And when you want to know whether a spot suits your level in March, whether you can get there on your own without a car, and where to sleep for under €80 a night, you end up with 15 open tabs and no real answer.
I built travel-surf.com to bring that information together in one place. Not for everyone: for surfers who are progressing, who sometimes travel alone or with friends, and who want to surf good waves without the trip planning turning into a headache.
What you will find here
For each destination: the level required, the best season, the type of waves, how to get there and where to stay. I have travelled along several coasts in Europe and a little further. When I don’t know a spot first-hand, I say so and I research it properly before writing about it.
No generic top 10s. No random destinations to pad out the site. Just what is useful before you book your flight.
Living in Capbreton
Capbreton and Hossegor are one of the best playgrounds in Europe to learn and progress. I surf there all year round and I know its spots and seasons in detail. That is also what made me want to write about other destinations with the same level of detail.
