About Le Prévent (Capbreton, Landes)
Le Prévent is a sandy beach break, framed by jetties, right next to the Gouf de Capbreton. This underwater canyon weakens the swell: most days, the waves are smaller than elsewhere.
With a big swell, the spot changes completely: it gets hollow and powerful, and becomes a backup for experienced surfers.
My take on Le Prévent
Le Prévent is a good spot to learn, except when the swell picks up: it can then be hollow and fast, with a shorebreak. On those days, I’d rather recommend Capbreton’s central beach or L’Estacade.
When to surf Le Prévent?
In summer and on small days, it is a good spot to learn, except when the swell picks up: the waves then get hollow and fast. When the swell is big, it becomes the backup for experienced surfers.
