South or north: where to choose your surf camp in Tenerife?
Most surf camps are in the south, between Las Américas and Costa Adeje. The north is greener and quieter, with more powerful waves in winter.
The south, to learn and meet people
Around Las Américas, the spots are at the end of the street and there are many schools. Beginners start on the gentlest of the Las Américas reefs, like El Conquistador, or at El Médano on small swells. The atmosphere is international and lively.
The north, wilder and more demanding
In the north, Punta del Hidalgo and Puerto de la Cruz get the big winter swells. It is more local and greener, and better suited to surfers who already have a few trips behind them, or to those who want to combine surf and yoga in a quiet setting.
