Imsouane Surf Camp - Morocco

The Little Kasbah is a surf camp located in Imsouane, a Moroccan fishing village between Essaouira and Taghazout. Known for its legendary wave, Imsouane Bay—nicknamed The Bay—offers one of the longest breaks in the country, with rides that can exceed 400 meters when conditions are right.

The camp is designed for surfers who are looking for some peace and quiet, nature, and long stress-free sessions.

Beginners, longboarders, intermediate surfers, and advanced surfers will all find conditions suited to their skill level, ranging from the gentle waves of the bay to the powerful surf at Cathedral Point.

Why choose The Little Kasbah for your surfing trip

Housed in a renovated traditional Berber home, the Kasbah enjoys a prime location at the entrance to the village, in a quiet neighborhood with views of the sea and mountains.

The two main attractions are within walking distance:

  • 8 minutes to Imsouane Bay
  • 5 minutes vers Cathedral Point

No need for a car: just step outside and you’ll be at the water in no time.

The surf trip

The course lasts 8 days and includes:

  • 1 supervised session of 3 hours per day
  • Opportunity to go free surfing on your own
  • Groups are limited to 4 surfers per instructor to ensure personalized attention

Schedule based on the tides:

  • The Bay at low tide (ideal for beginners and longboarders)
  • Cathedral at high tide (more technical and powerful)

Accommodations & atmosphere

  • Double rooms with a terrace and a view of the sea or a dormitory
  • Breakfast and dinner included
  • Lunch on your own at local restaurants in the village

The atmosphere is intentionally laid-back: no parties, no loud music. The clientele is mostly European, often consisting of longboarders or travelers seeking a more authentic and relaxing experience.

Surf Trip FAQ

When is the best time to surf in Imsouane?

October through April for the most consistent west swells. The Bay also works in the summer with small swells that produce very long, gentle rides, perfect for beginners and longboarders.

I’ve never surfed before—can I come?

Yes, Imsouane is one of the best spots in Morocco for beginners. The Bay is a very gentle right-hand point break, with an incoming tide and a sandy bottom over most of the take-off zone. You’ll improve quickly.

What’s the difference between Imsouane and Taghazout?

Taghazout is lively and crowded, with lots of surf camps and plenty of people at Anchor Point. Imsouane is a peaceful fishing village with a very quiet nightlife and a legendary wave for long rides. You come to Imsouane to surf and get away from it all.

How much does the surf trip cost in 2026?

From €420 per week in a dorm during low season to €780 for a double room with a bay view during high season. Accommodation, breakfast, lunch, 10 hours of lessons, and equipment included. Flights and airport transfers not included.

How do we get to Imsouane from France?

Direct flight to Agadir (3 hours from Paris, Lyon, Marseille, or Bordeaux), then a 2.5-hour drive to Imsouane. Alternative: flight to Essaouira, then a 1.5-hour drive. The camp offers a round-trip transfer from Agadir for approximately €80.

Is equipment provided?

Longboards, shortboards, and wetsuits are included in the lesson package. Perfect for trying out different boards at The Bay. If you bring your own board, the non-lesson package is €290 per week, which includes access to the guided session with the group.

Is Imsouane really quiet?

Yes, honestly. Fewer than 1,000 residents, no nightclubs, just a few trendy restaurants. Just a fishing port, a few cafés, and some grilled fish joints. Come if you want to read, surf, and go to bed early. Not for partying.

Is it suitable for women traveling alone?

Yes, the village is particularly quiet, and the camps are used to hosting solo travelers. Little Kasbah offers an all-female dormitory upon request.
